El Puerto de La Unión is a tribute to one of El Salvador’s most important coastal gateways — a place of departures and returns, of longing and hope. For many, this port holds the bittersweet truth of migration: the pain of leaving, the strength of enduring, and the possibility of a new beginning.

This piece was inspired by a photo taken by Jennifer Cueva’s friend during a Christmas trip to La Unión in 2019. The lighthouse was added by the artist as a personal touch — a symbol of guidance, serenity, and protection. Though originally from San Miguel, Jennifer spent much of her childhood in La Unión, making this painting both a personal memory and a collective story.

El Puerto de La Unión es un tributo a una de las puertas costeras más importantes de El Salvador, un lugar de despedidas y regresos, de anhelo y esperanza. Para muchos, este puerto guarda la verdad agridulce de la migración: el dolor de partir, la fortaleza de resistir y la posibilidad de un nuevo comienzo.

Esta obra fue inspirada en una foto tomada por una amiga de Jennifer Cueva durante un viaje navideño a La Unión en 2019. El faro fue añadido por la artista como un toque personal, símbolo de guía, serenidad y protección. Aunque originaria de San Miguel, Jennifer pasó gran parte de su niñez en La Unión, haciendo de esta pintura tanto un recuerdo personal como una historia colectiva.
